ViewPS is a adaptation of MacGhostscript to make it compatible with CMacTeX. Other than the ghostscript code itself, about the only things remaining from MacGhostscript are the postscript operators define in gs_cmactex.ps. The support files for viewPS are included in viewPS-support.hqx. This is a segmented archive, so you must download both parts. If you already have a copy of MacGhostscript 252b2 or 252b3 there is no need to download viewPS-support.hqx. The initialization and font files are the same.
Installation
All you need to do is copy gs_cmactex.ps to the ΓÇ£systemΓÇ¥ folder inside the ΓÇ£gsΓÇ¥ folder. Gs_cmactex.ps is the replacement for gs_mac.ps.
Options Menu
Page size: Page dimensions may be given in either inches or centimeters.
Resolution: For the most versatile viewing this variable should be set to the resolution (dpi) of any embedded images or pk fonts in your document. Set resolution to 72 if you want a quick preview.
Color: If you do not have a color monitor or are not previewing any documents with color, turn this option off.
Debug paths: If this option is turned on the full names of all files the program is trying to open will be displayed. This feature is useful in debuggings paths.
Dithering: If dithering is turned on, viewPS will render the displayed page in gray scale rather than black and white. This improves the display quality when the document is viewed at different magnifications.
Set library paths:This option allows the user to select the folders viewPS will search when looking for Ghostscript system files and fonts. You should include all of the subfolders of the main gs folder.
Set library path to defaults: The default search path is the ΓÇ£gsΓÇ¥ folder and all of its subfolders. The ΓÇ£gsΓÇ¥ folder must reside in the same folder as viewPS.
